Jake Matthews started his martial arts career at age 15, he saw Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a way to keep fit in the off-season of Aussie rules football. He progressed to focus more on MMA and eventually started fighting. He was very successful and went undefeated as an amateur, eventually winning the Victorian title. The next step was to turn Pro, which he did and he finished his first 6 opponents. This impressed the UFC and he became one of the youngest fighters to ever fight for the organisation. Jake has had a very successful run in the UFC suffering only one loss and defeating three opponents including the very decorated Vagner Rocha. He continues to live in Melbourne training with his father and running the XLR8 training centre in Epping.
